If you’ve been listening for the past few episodes, you know I’ve been making good on a promise to clear the decks of my backlog of music. I think this episode will sufficiently satisfy that endeavor. This is the end of the marathon. That said, this episode is rather devoid of hip-hop and I really don’t love that. I make a conscious effort to be inclusive of all sorts of genres across Nashville and just hit a dearth of material for this one. If I’ve learned anything from this exercise it’s that I need to find a better way of sourcing music from outside my normal pipelines.

That one regret aside, I think this has been a really exciting undertaking. In one week this show released six episodes containing seventy-seven songs. If you count the episode released late last week, there’s a grand total of eighty-seven songs. All Nashville local music. That distinction is important because there are clearly a lot of people making music IN YOUR AREA; by listening to this show and learning more about something you like, you’re supporting someone that might just live up the street. That kind of connection can help to form communities and I think that’s something incredibly special.

This particular marathon may be over but, broadly speaking, the marathon of local music will never end. New artists will continue to put their works into the world and established artists will continue to build on their previous efforts, it’s just up to us to dip in and see what they’re up to. The marathon is infinite.
